Enoxaparin 40 mg is
a medication used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots.1 The typical dose for deep vein thrombosis prevention is 40 mg once a day or 30 mg every 12 hours.23 For other uses, the typical dose is 1 mg per kilogram of body weight every 12 hours. Lovenox (enoxaparin) may interact with certain medications or supplements. If you have a prosthetic heart valve and have become pregnant, your doctor may require you to get more frequent visits and lab tests to make sure the Lovenox (enoxaparin) is working appropriately.2 The recommended dose of Lovenox is 40 mg by subcutaneous injection once a day (with the initial dose given 2 hours prior to surgery) in patients undergoing abdominal surgery who are at risk for thromboembolic complications. The usual duration of administration is 7 to 10 days.0 For medical patients at risk for thromboembolic complications due to severely restricted mobility during acute illness, the recommended dose is 40 mg once a day administered by subcutaneous injection.3 Treatment with enoxaparin sodium is prescribed for at least 6 to 14 days, regardless of recovery status.
